Seems like we are heading for a for a record year for Irish tourism in 2015, with almost 6.65 million people arriving during the January to September period – an increase of 12%, or an additional 737,600 overseas visitors, when compared to 2014.
North America visitors number are up almost 14% compared to the first nine months of 2014. The Irish Tourist Board figures indicate that Ireland now has captured 10% of the entire number of American visitors to all of Europe.
British visitors have also been coming in increasing numbers, up 11%, and our nearest neighbours are still our biggest tourism customers. However, there has been a strong interest in Irish holidays from mainland Europe with a 14% increase in number this year so far. We are seeing increasing numbers coming from Germany, Italy, Spain, France.
This is all good news and at Halfpenny Bridge Holiday Home we have seen Holiday Home occupancy levels of over 90% for most of the Summer. The city continues to be packed with visitors right into November, helped by The Web Summit.
